And so on the 12th May 2006 we should reach China.

Our first few days will be in Kashgar, including the fabled Sunday market when  over a hundred thousand people meet to trade the Silk Road's greatest and oldest surviving market.

From Kashgar, the route follows the deserted cities of the northern Taklarmarkan.  We visit the singing sands of Dunhuang, the old last post of the Great Wall at Jiayuguan, the Terracotta Warriors at Xiang and onwards to Shanghai.
